As part of its global Implementation Strategy of the GDPR by 2018, the Working Party has adopted its second Action Plan for 2017, which complements the 2016 priorities and draws new objectives and deliverables for the coming year.

Key points of the 2017 Action Plan:

• Follow-up on 2016 issues: the Working Party has committed to finalising its work on topics undertaken in 2016, including guidelines on certification and high risk processing, Data Protection Impact Assessments, administrative fines, the setting up of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and the preparation of the one stop shop and the EDPB consistency mechanism;
• New 2017 priorities: the Working Party has also committed to producing guidelines on the issues of consent and profiling and, in the second half of 2017, to producing guidelines on the issue of transparency. The Working Party will work on updating existing Opinions on data transfers to third countries and data breach notifications, at the same time.

This new Action Plan will be reviewed periodically and will be complemented in 2018.

The Working Party wishes also to consult stakeholders and is holding a second “Fablab” on 5 and 6 April 2017 at which interested stakeholders will be invited to present their views and comments on the new 2017 priorities.

In a continuing effort to build stronger bridges with the international data protection community, the Working Party is also organising an interactive workshop on 18 and 19 May 2017 to which non-EU counterparts will be invited to exchange views on the GDPR and its implementation by the Working Party.
