Wigg-inc is our ethnicity and cultural heritage people network.
Our mission is to make Wiggin better for everyone by creating an informed and inclusive environment where we can all discuss things openly, and everyone is valued for being themselves.
The group is open to Wiggin employees who want to join a supportive environment to discuss and celebrate difference.
Established in 2020, Wigg-inc was formed with a view to promoting awareness and understanding of issues that aren’t often talked about. We’ve gone from strength-to-strength over the past year and have grown to over 20 members. Wigg-inc helps to ensure that there is an inclusive framework within Wiggin which promotes a level playing field for all, whilst ensuring that Black, Asian and minority ethnic employees of the firm are given the support they need to be their authentic selves, and a platform to celebrate diversity.
Our members can trace their heritage back to countries all over the world (including across Africa, Asia, South America and the Middle East) which contributes to the rich fabric of the firm.
We see the group as having two main roles: firstly, to provide a safe and supportive space for people to air their views and discuss their experiences, and secondly to educate and improve cultural awareness and understanding across the firm.
While we do collaborate with the management team on policies and practices affecting our members, Wigg-inc is not a top-down initiative and has grown organically from within. The organic growth of the group will ensure that it remains a reflection of its members and the ideals.
Despite our recent formation, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far.
We’ve organised awareness-raising events for the whole firm, celebrated events that are important to us like Black History Month and Diwali and produced a series of educational pieces discussing the achievements of cultural icons from a minority ethnic background.
However, most pleasing is that we’ve created a positive, supportive environment which empowers our members to feel confident in their own skin. We’re looking forward to welcoming more members and celebrating even more successes over the next year.
