Following the world record route cycled by Alan Bate in 2010, Wiggin staff sets off on 11 January to cycle the distance on five static bikes in 180 working days. Their objective is to raise a total of £100,000 to be shared evenly between four chosen charities: Maggie’s Cheltenham Centre and Great Ormond Street Hospital, which are local to the firm’s offices, and Alzheimer’s Society and Autistica as their chosen national charities.
Wiggin CEO John Banister comments: “We like to do things differently at Wiggin, and we’re always up for a new challenge. The start of the New Year was the right moment for us all to pull together as one and do something great for charities that mean a lot to us.
“Everything about the challenge, from its name to the four charities we chose to support, was voted for by the staff. We are all raring to go and cannot wait to update everyone on how we are getting on.”
Wiggin’s “wheelie big challenge” starts on Monday 11 January. The first leg of their route will see them cycle from London to Dover via Hastings before crossing the channel and cycle South across Europe.
