Senior Associate

Rob is a UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorney and member of CITMA, who entered the IP profession in 2000.  He has broad experience in representing clients of all sizes and from various commercial backgrounds including the energy, recruitment, clothing, cosmetics, entertainment and betting sectors.

“I provide the full spectrum of trade mark attorney services, from the searching and inception of a brand, through to ensuring all trade marks and surrounding IP rights are properly protected, policed, prosecuted and then enforced, as and when required. I have acted before the UKIPO and EUIPO in dispute proceedings, in addition to experience with appeals in proceedings. I have dealt with large, global search, filing and ownership change projects for household brand names. I also have experience with domain name complaints and social media takedowns.

My approach is to offer tailored and commercial solutions to each client according to their budget and end goals, and in a friendly, approachable and collaborative manner. I aim to foresee new developments in the sectors of my clients, to ensure the necessary bases are covered in their portfolios.

After obtaining a 2:1 in Law (LLB) from Southampton Solent University, which included a module in IP, I obtained a Letter of Commendation in my Masters (LLM) in IP, also from Southampton Solent University. I achieved a First for my thesis on the relationship between trade marks and domain names, back at the time when cybersquatting was a new threat! I also won the award for Best IP Performance on the Masters and the award for Best Overall Performance on the LLM.

I have also run workshops for businesses to highlight the importance of trade mark protection as well as having various articles published both in business-related and peer publications.

Prior to joining Wiggin, I began my career at a small family run firm of trade mark attorneys back in 2000. I also spent several years at two leading Legal 500 Index firms in London, a private practice in Reading specialising in acting for SME clients, and a small practice in Hertfordshire.”
