Wiggin’s WIPO complaint in respect of the domain edinburghmilitarytattootickets.com has been successful. Wiggin’s client, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (REMT), organises and promotes an annual military pageant event comprising military music and display – it’s a popular tourist event that is also televised in over 40 countries, attracting a total audience of around 100 million viewers. The disputed domain name was being used for the unauthorised resale of tickets to the Tattoo. The WIPO Panel has ruled that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to REMT’s trade marks; that it was registered in bad faith; and that the Respondents’ had no legitimate interest in the domain name. Wiggin partner Rachel Alexander and associate Olivia Brown advised REMT.

The Panel has ordered that the disputed domain name be transferred to REMT by 30 January.
