Wiggin has advised the producers (Faye Ward and Alison Owen) on the production of the feature film “Suffragette”, which opened the BFI London Film Festival and was released on 12th October.

Directed by Sarah Gavron (‘Brick Lane’, ‘Village at the end of the World’) and written by Abi Morgan (‘Brick Lane’, ‘The Iron Lady’), Suffragette centres on the early members of the British women’s suffrage movement of the late 19th and early 20th century. The film stars Carey Mulligan, with Meryl Streep playing Emmeline Pankhurst.

Wiggin Film & TV Partner Neil Gillard led the team, which also included Alexander Lea and Beth Wyllie. Neil was recently ranked as leading individual by the Legal 500 UK directory. Wiggin’s Film & TV practice is the only law firm in the UK to advise all US film studios, networks and Pay Cable channels.
