Ofcom is seeking evidence on risks of harms to children and how they can be mitigated as it prepares to develop Codes of Practice as part of its forthcoming role as online safety regulator under the Online Safety Bill.

Once secondary legislation passes to define priority content that is legal but harmful to children, Ofcom says that it will consult on draft Codes of Practice and guidance setting out the steps platforms can take to protect children online, as well as draft guidance on how platforms should assess risks of harms to children.

In this consultation, Ofcom is seeking evidence on inter alia: child access assessments, child risk assessments, preventing children accessing pornography and protecting children from harmful content.

Ofcom would like to hear from those with an expertise in protecting children online, and providers of online services.
