Insights BEREC issues call for input in relation to the review of intra-EU communications rules in light of the Roaming Regulation (2022/612/EU)

Under Recital 53 of the Roaming Regulation, the EU Commission alongside BEREC must assess the effects of measures introduced by the BEREC Regulation (2018/1971/EU) on the intra-EU communications market and consider whether, and to what extent, the caps on charges to consumers for regulated intra-EU communications should be reduced to protect consumers.

To support the Commission, BEREC will publish an Opinion analysing the relevant measures, based on the data it collects for its Intra-EU Communications Benchmark Data Report. BEREC will submit its Opinion to the EU Commission in March 2023.

BEREC is inviting interested parties to provide input on the function of the Intra-EU Communications rules and their suggestions for improvements and changes, taking into account the requirements of the Roaming Regulation.

Responses should be emailed to int-roaming@berec.europa.eu by 5 December 2022. To read BEREC’s announcement in full, click here.
