The Football Association has handed a six year ban to Bradley Wood, a former Lincoln City defender, for multiple breaches of its Integrity and Betting Rules. The ban arose as a result of an investigation prompted by a UK licensed gambling operator reporting suspicious betting activities to the Gambling Commission.

The symbiotic relationship between the sports and gambling industries often comes under fire from the press and pressure groups. As such, this development should be cited as a success story and a demonstration of the investment the UK gambling industry has made in seeking to keep crime out of gambling and ensuring a level playing field for all.

A Gambling Commission representative stated: “Through working with gambling firms, sports governing bodies and the public we can work hard to continue to keep crime out of British gambling and sport.”
