Media, IP and technology law firm Wiggin has won the award for Most Innovative Law Firm in Intellectual Property Law at the 2015 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards.

Led by Head of IP Simon Baggs, the IP team was recognised for its innovative approach to online IP protection, combining technology with legal expertise, demonstrated by the landmark case win for Richemont, securing court orders to block websites that sell counterfeit goods online and by the creation of Incopro – an online technology platform to track and enforce against infringements of IP.

Wiggin’s CEO John Banister commented: “It is a fantastic achievement for our IP practice and I would like to congratulate the team and Simon on their win. As a firm we have developed a number of specialised non legal businesses. One of them is Incopro, which focuses on online IP protection. We are proud to see how successful it is today, having grown in a few years to a team of over 25 people.”

Simon Baggs, Head of IP and Managing Director of Incopro, added: “It is an honour for us to win such a prestigious award. We have had the pleasure of working with many IP businesses over the years. Incopro now enhances our work in this area and provides the technology we need to represent our clients effectively through targeted enforcement”

Simon Baggs was also shortlisted as the Legal Innovator of the Year, while Wiggin was ranked outstanding in the Growth & Business Development category.
