James Hope

James is a Senior Associate in the Property group. He specialises in all aspects of commercial property law including leasehold and freehold acquisitions and disposals, secured lending/development and investment finance, venue hire and location agreements, leasehold enfranchisement, eSports licences and environmental and construction issues. James has developed particular specialisms in analysis of the disruptive ‘tech-property’ sector and in the acquisition and management of studio and set space.

 

  • Recent Experience

    • The multimillion pound disposal with overage of substantial development land in London to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, including detailed provisions for the simultaneous disposal of the occupational tenant company.
    • The lease of a listed country estate for the filming of a new flagship BBC period drama, with associated rolling break rights, options to renew, rights to alter and rights to bring and house endangered animals on set.
    • Secured lending and property due diligence to fund the multi-million pound freehold acquisition of key investment sites across Cheltenham and London on behalf of an overseas investment trust, including significant capital allowances considerations and transfer and ongoing management of all occupational tenants.
