Ted Shapiro, Partner and Head of the Wiggin Brussels office, together with his co-editor Brigitte Lindner of Serle Court, has published the second edition of ‘Copyright in the Information Society: A Guide to National Implementation of the European Directive’.

The substantially revised edition of this book evaluates the Directive on Copyright in the Information Society and its interpretation by the European Court of Justice in the light of its implementation and application in the 28 Member States. Since the first edition, many Member States have enacted further legislation, either to supplement or refine their earlier implementation of the Directive or to implement a subsequent directive, to address a particular problem or occasioned by a mix of the foregoing. The 28 diverse and thought-provoking chapters which are at the heart of this book explore in detail the ways in which the ‘matured’ Directive has been integrated into the legal system of each of the 28 Member States. Providing a snapshot of the status quo of copyright protection in the Member States, the new edition is also an indispensable tool for the national implementation of the newly adopted Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market.
