IMPRESS has announced that the scope of its free arbitration scheme, available to all members of IMPRESS, has been extended to include civil claims for breaches of data protection law.

IMPRESS says that this provides an “added layer of reassurance to IMPRESS-regulated publications, who are working hard to comply with the new requirements of the Data Protection Act, which came into effect at the end of May 2018”.

As a result of the change, claims covered by the IMPRESS arbitration scheme include: defamation, breach of confidence, misuse of private information, malicious falsehood, harassment, and breach of data protection laws. To read IMPRESS’s announcement in full, click here.
