The Gambling Commission’s new standards for consumer protection entered into force today. The changes to the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice aim to provide stronger protection for consumers and ensure they are treated fairly.

The key changes relate to marketing and advertising, unfair terms and the handling of customer complaints and disputes.

Many of the amendments to the LCCP broaden the Commission’s ability to sanction operators for failing to meet consumer law and advertising rules.

Since the Commission’s initial announcement on 1 August 2018, further guidance has been published relating to consumer complaints handling.
