HomeInsightsGambling Commission response to the consultation on remote key equipment

The Commission recently published their response to a consultation on remote key equipment.  From the end of July 2020, licence condition 2.1.1 will be removed, which currently requires an operator to make an application to vary Schedule R of their licence every time they wish to add or move key equipment to a different jurisdiction. The Commission also explained that moving key equipment within a jurisdiction will no longer need to be reported under key event 15.2.1.7 (although we could not see how that key event was ever previously engaged by changes to the location of key equipment).

The response will be seen as positive by the industry, removing the often-cumbersome burden of having to make applications to vary British operating licences when there are changes made to the transactional equipment used by operators or their suppliers.
