HomeInsightsEuropean Commission and European Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) announce creation of Stakeholders Cybersecurity Certification Group (SCCG)

The Commission says that the new Group will advise on strategic issues regarding cybersecurity certification. At the same time it will assist the Commission in its preparation of the EU rolling work programme. Under the EU Cybersecurity Act it will also create market-driven certification schemes and help reduce fragmentation between various existing schemes in EU Member States.

The Group consists of representatives from an array of organisations, including academic institutions, consumer organisations, conformity assessment bodies, standard developing organisations, companies, trade associations and many others. The first meeting of the Group took place on 24 June 2020.

The Commission says that the EU is working on building the necessary cybersecurity capabilities to prevent and counter the ever-changing cyber threats and attacks. The Group will “help by bringing about the needed expertise and advice for the creation of a tailored and risk-based EU certification system”.
