Working with international clients

We are renowned for our expertise and work across the media, entertainment and technology sectors and for advising digital businesses on complex IP, commercial and regulatory issues.

Many of our lawyers have worked in-house or on secondment within the sectors we advise on. That experience informs how we approach transactions, rights structures and regulatory issues, and underpins long‑standing relationships with key players.

International facts & figures

Selected international experience

Examples of our international work include advising:

  • US, European and Middle Eastern media and technology businesses on acquisitions and investments involving multi‑jurisdictional rights and regulatory issues
  • Streaming and digital platforms on licensing arrangements across Europe, the Middle East and Africa
  • AI developers, platforms and adopters on AI governance, data protection and regulatory monitoring across more than 50 jurisdictions.
  • International brands on global trade mark portfolios, enforcement strategies and cross‑border disputes
  • Games, sport and betting businesses on commercial agreements and regulatory matters spanning multiple territories

We advised on the acquisition of a mobile games company with operations in Poland, the Czech Republic and Belarus. We:

  • Led on all aspects of the M&A transaction including coordination of local counsel, employment and other advice in the target jurisdictions.
  • Identified and implemented solutions to IP deficiencies relating to the key titles across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Took a leading role on the game migration arrangements post-closing.
  • The migration work involved Wiggin’s games team working alongside the technical teams from both the client and target to agree the migration plan. The team then worked closely with our corporate games team to reflect the agreed terms in the purchase agreement.

The success of this complex transaction reinforced why clients value our unique combination of sector specialisation and cross-border corporate capability.

Working across jurisdictions

As an independent firm, we are not constrained by local offices or formal networks. We handpick the best specialist counsel in each relevant territory to ensure our clients get the right expert in every market. We’ve worked with over 80 international law firms in the past year alone to support our clients’ needs in all key jurisdictions.
