Cirkus, the on-demand television channel that offers ‘Best of British’ programmes to international audiences, has signed a major distribution deal with Scandinavian telecommunications giant TeliaSonera.

Cirkus is a unique collaboration between content consultancy Content&Co, media lawyers Wiggin and digital product designers Ostmodern.  The deal means that Cirkus will launch in Finland in the autumn of 2014 followed by Sweden in early 2015. Cirkus will now be available on Sweden’s three largest pay television platforms (TeliaSonera, Com Hem and Boxer) as well as having a significant presence in Finland.

Cirkus Co-Founder’s Mark Bradford & Hugh Williams said: ‘Our deal with TeliaSonera is a very important milestone for Cirkus, consolidating our position as one of the leading on-demand services in Sweden and extending our service more broadly into the Nordics. The UK produces some of the best television in the world and we are proud to be leading the way in finding new markets for it.’

TeliaSonera is the largest mobile and broadband operator in the Nordic and Baltic regions. It also has extensive operations in Russia, Central Asia, Spain and Turkey.
