HomeInsightsOfcom consults on proposals to update the Wireless Telegraphy Act fees Regulations

Ofcom is consulting on draft regulations, the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) Regulations 2020. The new regulations would add in fees for three Wireless Telegraphy Act licence classes not currently included in the charging regulations, these are:

  • Local Access;
  • Shared Access; and
  • Network 2 GHz.

In order to simplify the legislation, improve understanding of the charging environment and reduce the regulatory burden on stakeholders, Ofcom is also consolidating the various licence charges regulations made since 2011.

Comments on the proposed Regulations are invited by 5pm on Friday 31 July 2020. Subject to consideration of responses, Ofcom intends to bring the new Regulations into force in September 2020. To access the consultation, click here.
