HomeInsightsGambling Commission warns industry to remove unfair cash withdrawal restrictions

The Gambling Commission has warned online gambling businesses that they must remove unfair restrictions placed on customers withdrawing money from their gambling accounts or face action.

The warning comes following the Competition and Markets Authority announcement of the outcome of its latest investigation into unfair terms and practices in the online gambling sector.  All gambling firms are now required to adhere to the standards set out by the CMA.

In July 2018, the Commission announced changes to its Licence conditions and code of practice (LCCP), which take effect on 31 October 2018, making it quicker and easier for the Commission to take actions for breaches of consumer law.  This includes taking action where firms breach the principles laid out by the CMA.  For further information, click here.
