PRS for Music has announced that it has signed a new partnership agreement with JACAP, the Kingston-headquartered Jamaican collecting society.

PRS says that from 1 January 2023 JACAP will license the musical works represented by PRS to music users in the Cayman Islands. The new partnership will utilise JACAP’s expertise of licensing in the region, for the benefit of local customers and the songwriters, composer and publishers whose works are being used.

Sami Valkonen, Chief International Business Officer, PRS for Music said that as part of PRS’s “ongoing transformation” the organisation is re-evaluating its international agreements. “Music is a global business and working on behalf of our members means ensuring that there’s efficient and active licensing and collection in all markets”, Mr Valkonen said.
