On 30 November  2020 the UKIPO closed its call for views on AI – a consultation paper that sought to understand the implications that AI might have for intellectual property (IP) policy as well as the impact IP protection might have on commercial aspects of AI in the near to medium term. The call for views considered the legal framework relating to patents, copyright, designs, trade marks and trade secrets in the UK.

The UKIPO is now analysing the responses and its findings should be published shortly.
