HomeInsightsIntellectual Property Office publishes call for views on its review of the designs system

Contact

The IPO is conducting a review of the designs system and developed a survey to seek views from anyone with an interest in designs and how they are protected. The survey was an opportunity for designers, design-led businesses, and manufacturers to have their say on the future of how designs are protected in the UK.

The IPO also published a call for views which allowed people to give more in-depth information on designs issues.

The IPO wanted to hear about what works well and what could work better. This will allow the Government to consider whether changes need to be made to the UK designs system now that the UK has left the EU. In particular, the IPO is considering whether the system is too complex and whether it is adaptable to new technologies. It also wants to know how it can improve the user-experience, increase the value of the IP rights and broader accessibility to design protection. To access the call for views, click here.
