The Media Bill, a summary of which was previously reported by Wiggin, had its second reading in the House of Commons on 21 November 2023 and is now in the Committee Stage, the stage in which a Bill is examined in detail and debated and during which some amendments may be proposed. Committees can also request evidence from the public and hear oral evidence. Amendments to the Bill proposed by MPs are now beginning to be published for consideration during the Committee Stage and beyond.

On 23 November 2023, the Public Bill Committee issued a call for written evidence from anyone who has relevant expertise and experience of, or a special interest in, the Bill. The first sitting of the Committee will be on 5 December, and it is scheduled to report by 14 December at the latest, so the Call advises that any evidence should be submitted well before 14 December.
