The Commission has published the consultation with the aim of finalising the stakeholder dialogue and setting out the Commission’s initial ideas for guidance on Article 17. Article 17 introduces new rules for online content-sharing service providers that Member States will have to transpose by June 2021.

The dialogue gathered representatives of rights holders, online content-sharing service providers, consumers, users and fundamental rights organisations. Six meetings took place between October 2019 and February 2020. Participants are now invited to give their written views by 10 September 2020. The views gathered will feed into the preparation of the Commission’s guidance on the application of Article 17. To access the consultation, click here.
