Wiggin strengthens data and digital regulation expertise with partner hire

Entertainment, media, technology and IP law firm Wiggin has announced that Paddy O’Connell has joined the firm as a Partner, significantly strengthening the firm’s digital law, tech transaction and data protection capabilities.

Clients across our core sectors face ever-increasing scrutiny and regulation about their use of data, AI and emerging tech. Paddy’s arrival brings extensive experience of large, complex, multi-jurisdiction regulatory and commercial matters across gaming, digital entertainment, adtech, online safety, e-commerce and social media.

Paddy previously enjoyed a successful stint at Wiggin from 2018 to 2021 before spending the past five years as a Managing Associate in the corporate division of the leading global law firm, Linklaters. On rejoining the firm, he will work alongside Partner, Patrick Rennie, advising on data protection and digital law and navigating clients through complex tech transactions.

Paddy is recognised by Chambers for data protection, with clients praising his technical expertise, commercial approach and responsiveness, describing him as “invaluable” and “a fantastic asset”.

Patrick’s appointment underscores Wiggin’s commitment to providing strategic data-related advice and support and follows a number of recent senior appointments including the recent promotions of Adelaide Lopez, Bethan Lloyd and Gaelyn Fuhrmann to the partnership in April 2026 and the arrival of specialist IP litigator, Priya Nagpal, in May 2026.
