Danielle Sharkey

Senior Associate

Danielle is a contentious lawyer with more than 15 years’ experience advising international federations, governing bodies, brands, clubs and athletes across sports regulation, governance and commercial disputes

“Whether I’m advising on high court proceedings, handling a complex disciplinary matter, helping reshape constitutional frameworks, or working through safeguarding protocols, my focus is always on providing clear, practical solutions.

I advise on regulatory rules and procedures, integrity and anti-doping issues, safeguarding and athlete welfare, both at national and international level. I also support sporting bodies on constitutional reform, policy development and investigations and support sports in commercial litigation and other disputes. I’ve appeared before numerous sports disciplinary tribunals, at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and in high court proceedings

My background includes eight years as in-house counsel at the British Horseracing Authority and a secondment as Head of Regulation at the International Cricket Council. That experience means I understand the pressures governing bodies face and the need for advice that genuinely works in practice.

Sport is a fast-paced and constantly evolving industry with unique challenges. Helping clients navigate these changes and stay ahead of regulatory developments is something I find really rewarding.”

Danielle is incredibly knowledgeable of the sporting industry and understands clients' needs. Her projects are delivered on time, and her advice is given in a very practical and workable format.
