Niche media and technology law firm Wiggin was named Boutique Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards Ceremony.

The Boutique Law Firm of the Year category was newly launched this year. It recognises a creative and innovative approach to providing legal services, as well as the use of technology and new business models.  This year is also the first year that the awards were judged by an independent jury of senior General Counsels.

Wiggin’s CEO John Banister commented: “We are delighted to win in this category, which confirms the success of our strategy to remain a niche firm, focused on our media, technology and creative industries’ clients.

“We have had a very strong year and everyone across the firm has worked incredibly hard to contribute to the success of the firm.  This award is a testament to their dedication to our strategy.”

Wiggin was also highly commended in the Legal Innovator category, and was described as “the epitome of innovation, leveraging its media law specialism to develop alternative commercial revenue streams.”

The ceremony was held on 24 March in the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and hosted by Jeremy Paxman.

This is the second award Wiggin has won this month.  The firm’s IP team won the UK Copyright category at the Managing IP Awards on 11 March.
