Niche media law firm, Wiggin, has grown its commercial litigation practice with the recent appointment of senior associate, Matthew Dando. Matthew joins from Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) where he was a senior associate in the commercial litigation and arbitration team.

Wiggin has a market-leading media litigation practice with clients including many of the UK’s national newspapers, magazine publishers and book publishers as well as the Hollywood film studios, broadcasters, music publishers and recording companies, website owners and providers of mobile material.

The decision to grow the team and expand its focus came following feedback from the market, Caroline Kean, partner and head of the litigation group, comments: “Our team is particularly well-known for its defamation and IP protection expertise and this remains a core area for us but we also have a strong background in commercial litigation for media organisations and we are excited to be expanding this area of our business.

“Wiggin offers something unique to clients in that our focus is purely on the media sector, and this includes our commercial litigation practice. Increasing demands from clients who appreciate our sector focus and personal service has led us to expand the team specifically on that front.

“This is why Matthew has joined the team and we’re very pleased to be welcoming him to Wiggin. He has previously worked with clients from a wide range of sectors albeit with an overarching focus on the media industry and will work on further developing our media-focused commercial litigation offering.”

Matthew’s practice encompasses cross-border litigation and international arbitration as well as other less formal dispute resolution mechanisms. He also has in-house experience, having spent time on secondment with a major brand management and retail group.
