Media, Technology and IP law firm Wiggin announces today the promotion of Gurminder Panesar and Rachel Alexander to partner, effective 1 April 2016.  These promotions bring the total number of partners to 25.

Panesar leads Wiggin’s brand management and trade marks team.  He oversees global trade mark portfolios for a number of high-profile brands.

Alexander works in the firm’s intellectual property group.  She has been involved in high profile cases, including Newzbin and Cartier, which have developed precedents and procedures for obtaining injunctions that require internet service providers to block access to pirate and counterfeit websites.

Wiggin CEO John Banister commented: “Our IP practice goes from strength to strength and has been involved in some of the highest profile and precedent-setting IP cases in recent years.  As we launch our new five-year strategy, we are committed to building on the enviable reputation we have built in the media industry by growing our technology and IP practices.

“Gurminder and Rachel have been instrumental in the ongoing success of our IP practice.  Their promotion is well-deserved.”

This announcement follows a string of lateral hires for Wiggin this year.  The firm announced the appointment of Stephen Ketteley and David McLeish to their Betting & Gaming practice in January, and David Naylor joined Wiggin to co-head its technology practice in March.
