HomeInsightsCommittee of Advertising Practice announces open call for evidence on children’s ability to recognise online marketing communications

CAP says that recognising when we are being marketed to is a central requirement of the UK Advertising Codes. It is especially important for younger children who are still developing their understanding of the commercial world around them.

CAP recently developed detailed guidance on recognition in online environments as part of its continuing commitment to ensure that children are afforded appropriate and effective protections.

After carrying out a 12-month review of the guidance, CAP says it is keen to update its understanding of the evidence base and ensure that its policies on children’s recognition are in the right place.

Submissions are invited by 5pm on 5 December 2019. To access the call for evidence document, click here.
