LONDON – Media, technology and IP law firm Wiggin has advised True North on its investment from Sky. Corporate group co-head Michael Brader was assisted by corporate legal director Benedict Headicar, Film & TV group partner Medwyn Jones, head of tax Sue Crawford, and associates Seth Roe and Gerard Lee.

Co-creative directors and founders Jess Fowle and Andrew Sheldon launched the Leeds based factual indie in 2001, which was one of the first four production houses to secure investment from C4’s Growth Fund in August 2014. The majority stake investment by Sky Vision, a commercial and distribution arm of pay TV giant Sky, will see it represent True North’s future programming and formats worldwide.

Marc Allen, Managing Director of True North said, “Wiggin gave a completely comprehensive and 360 degree service throughout the entire transaction. Great expertise, confidence and competence in all areas and at all times. We were served very, very well”.

Wiggin’s corporate practice is a UK leader in the independent TV M&A and investment transactions market.  Brader has advised on over 60 deals in the sector, including Sky’s investments in Blast! Films and Love Productions, Blueprint Television on its investment deal with Sony Pictures Television, Barcroft Media Group on its investment by Channel 4’s Growth Fund, Neal Street on its acquisition by All3Media, Mammoth Screen on its acquisition by ITV, Endemol Shine on its investment in Douglas Road, Monumental TV on its investment by ITV, and Naked Entertainment and Full Fat TV on their investments by Fremantle.
