Media, Technology and IP law firm Wiggin has today announced that Alan Owens is joining the disputes practice from DWF where he was Head of Technology & Communications.

Owens specialises in providing dispute resolution and prevention services to the technology sector.  He acts in UK and international commercial litigation and arbitration for clients across the sector, from global tech platforms and manufacturers, through to the developers and funders of cutting edge and market challenging technologies.

His experience encompasses the resolution of disputes concerning hardware and software failures, system development and transition, technology product recalls, regulatory and antitrust claims, research funding and licensing, and cyber security breach management.

Owens said: “I am excited to be joining one of the strongest specialist practices in the U.K., and providing the very best advice to clients that are driving the growth of the digital economy.”

Wiggin Head of Litigation Caroline Kean said: “I am delighted that Alan is joining the team: the additional strength and depth his expertise brings will be particularly valued by our technology clients, who will have the benefit of access to a specialist with a thorough understanding of their sector when that inside knowledge is most needed. I look forward to working with him very much.”

Wiggin CEO John Banister added: “Alan’s appointment is another step towards achieving our strategy of achieving the same level of recognition for our technology practice that we already enjoy in media and communications. He brings with him an enviable experience within the Technology sector and is recognised as a leader in his field. ”

Owens’s appointment is the fourth lateral hire by Wiggin in the past 12 months. In January 2016 Stephen Ketteley and David McLeish joined the firm’s Betting & Gaming practice. In February, the firm announced the appointment of David Naylor as Partner and co-head of its Technology practice.
