One of the most successful spinoffs from our highly regarded broadcasting practice has been our acquisition of expertise in the field of interactive and enhanced television services. As ordinary “linear” television channels start to load up with a range of interactive products sitting behind the “red button” interactive icon, so has our expertise grown to advise on all aspects of this new technology and broadcast offering. We deal with a whole range of interactive products, such as advertising, retail, competitions, voting, programme information and support material, adult services, betting and gambling. In particular, we advise upon interactive betting and competitions, where one of the high points is our continuing representation of Littlewoods Gaming on its ground-breaking and industry-leading tie-up to provide exclusive betting, gaming and lotteries products to the ITV channels. We advise media providers on betting, gaming, competitions and lotteries, both in terms of the structure and legality of the products offered and with regard to the carriage and distribution of such products. We advise on the mitigation of underage and problem gambling in the electronic environment and upon the fulfilment and marketing of online gambling products. We have expertise in the acquisition and handling of subscriber data and the setup of CRM functions. We anticipate a further expansion of this area of practice as and when the detailed regulations around the liberalisation represented by the Gambling Act 2005 are produced by OFCOM and the Gambling Commission.
